Overview

  1. Provides youth, aged seven through seventeen, the opportunity to completely create and present an entire stage production.  

  2. Summer Glee produces an entirely ensemble show, where there are no leads – everyone is equal!  

History

  1. Performances have taken place at Stratford Festival rehearsal halls, various churches, and local town halls.  

  2. The Intensive Studies in Theatre Program is now in its twentieth-fifth year, with each year expanding to include more sessions in locations across Ontario to meet the demand.

Programming

  1. Performances :Each participant delivers monologues (Shakespearean and/or contemporary), solo and ensemble songs, scenes from Shakespearean and contemporary periods, a ‘create your own skit’ using masks, and ensemble poetry work.   

  2. Students make their own masks from plaster castings of their faces and learn how to create character using their masks and bodies.  

  3. Archetypal figures are used to teach storytelling.  Students are encouraged and taught how to use their ideas and performances to communicate convictions and evoke change in our society – how to work as individuals and how to work together as an ensemble.  

  4. Productions have theme-based elements, and incorporate current events and social issues (the environment, world peace, positive choices, friendship etc.)

  5. Participants learn and implement all aspects of theatre leading to the final performance – from promotional work, poster and set design, to acting and singing skills etc. 

  6. Children are encouraged to work toward personal goals and potential, wherein once ensemble repertoire is learned, children are welcome to add more solo repertoire.

Registration

Registration - $250.00 +tax

For families with 2 or more Children attending camp a 10% discount per Child is applied.

Before & After Care

  1. Pre and after hour daycare available.

  2. Payable at a rate of $10/hr  or $5/ half hour 

Rehearsals

  1. Run for one business week (Monday through Friday) from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily

  2. Drop off no earlier than 9:15 am. 

  3. Pick up no later than 4:15pm

  4. Show date to be reserved for the final Friday after camp.

  5. Children are required to commit to the entire week’s rehearsals and the final production.
